Went to Osprey Outfitters in Clearwater on Belcher yesterday. They seem to be associated with Mad Paddlers as they share the same web site and the guy that does the Average Angler show on Brighthouse is on there. He advertises his kayak fishing guide service on their web site(s). Jeremy, FYA they have scupper stoppers.

Found the rod holders I want. Their the Scotty 280's and not the Power Lock. I'll be ordering the flush mount rod holders from Kayak Fishing Stuff on the 5th and trying to exchange the rod holders that I bought from them. They have their website shut down untill then for up-grades/maintenance.
They say that the Blues and Gospel got together and had a baby. They named it Rock N Roll.

yep, cold, cold, cold! I can do without being on the water easily when it is cold in combo with gray, windy, and/or wet. What is hard are the cold days that are clear, dry, calm and with a beautifully hot sun beaming down, Hard to resist and thinking that there are few other boats out makes it all the more seductive to just "give er a try". However what almost always happens is a weather change (for the worse) the fish are nowhere to be found and of course the water is so thin that even a yak gets stuck. Even if all stays perfect I always manage to dunk my hand (usually up to the shoulders) retrieving a new rod or what is worse two dollar used dirty dehooker which is easily replaced or which I may actually have a spare one in the box. I usualy can keep dry if I am not fishing as with the Outback the seat is fairly high, peddling does not rock and do dripping from a paddle. I have a "gel" seat pad that helps prevent that "block of ice" feeling and some folks actually place a couple of hand warmers under the seat pad.
Anyway all this rambling is meant to say "Yes" I agree that waiting for warm weather is a great idea, so see ya then perhaps. As for your question Mud River is the river that the Weeki Wachee flows into before flowing to Bayport, also technically Jenkins creek joins Mud River before flowing into gulf. The river is a spring fed, tidally influenced, usually brackish river I would guess she is about three miles long with average 2 to 4 ft. depth. There are houses about first mile, but the rest is a quiet, marsh/sawgrass lined mullet filled river, pretty much like Jenkins Creek, including some deeper holes. One problem is that in a kayak ther is a good risk of being run over by an "asshauling" jet ski or larger boat trying to keep from grounding by keeping up on a plane. There are quite a few nooks and creeks entering the river and provide hiding, feeding and stalking area for fresh and saltwater fish.
anyway
until later,
stay warm and good luck tweaking your yak
