sorry, dont know muuch about cattle boats....call the miss virginia in NPR ( i think)and see if they are doing ½ days...I would assume they would, considering how grouper are out of season. Most likely go out to catch grunts. Also try the landing in tarpon springs.
Caught another half dozen decent reds today while out with my uncle....kept 2 slotters for dinner....I'd post a pic, but apparently my cam has an issue...took the pics but it wont let me upload them to the comp...oh well..at least it tasted splendid
The key with the trout this time of year in my mind is lookin for dirty water with slight current when the tide is moving. in residential canals, look for T's. in creeks and river mouths, look for deeper darker eddys in the sun, preferably near a spring. if I was going to pick 1 lure for trout, it would be the gold glitter DOA with white shrimp scent fishbites ( http://www.fishbites.com/shop/Fishbites ... -p120.html )
(cont) and the DOA small rattles ( http://www.doalures.com/store/index.cfm ... attles.cfm ) FYI the large rattles will not fit, and do not fit 99% of the DOA products. I have decent luck with just the DOA but I do seem to have much better success when the DOA covers all 3 areas of sight, sound, and scent. Also, you really need to use a loop knot. It allows a much more natural movement
Personally, the ONLY DOA shrimp i ever use is the gold glitter. 95% of the time, that is the only lure i use. however, I am also a firm believer that the DOA shrimp needs a glass rattle in it, and some scent. The colder the water temp, the smaller the DOA...as the water gets colder the fish will be more and more lethargic and will just about only hit your lure on a very slow sink
